Jen Welter to play in AFL China’s Historic Game Honoring Veterans and the U.S. Military Community

The Texas Revolution Running Back and first female non-kicking professional football player, Jen welter is set to play in the Second Annual Arm Veterans vs. Navy Veterans Indoor Football Game.  On Saturday, June 28th at the University of Penn’s Class of 1923 Arena, featuring legendary former players from both Annapolis and Westpoint and now the Daughter of Silver Star recipient Dr. Peter Welter; Dr. Jen Welter.

Dr. Jen Welter will be introduced amongst NFL stars, political leaders, Philadelphia City Council members and members of the United States Military.  AFL China President, David Niu stated “This game has created a collective and organized list of leaders that will deliver a meaningful and measurable result.”
Jen’s story is quite the Cinderella one, defeating the odds and playing for a men’s professional team, the 2 time TEAM USA player has made an impression on young female athletes everywhere. “Jen does work, she comes to practice every day with a great attitude, work ethic and a drive to get better; this is a big step in her journey and we’re proud of her.” Said Revolution Head Coach Chris Williams.

While never serving herself; Jen’s father, Dr. Peter Welter earned the Silver Star while operating as a medic during the Vietnam War. A member of the 1st Battalion of the 28th Infantry “Black Lions” excelled in the combat zone titled the “Iron Triangle” in the Binh Doung Province about 45 miles Northwest of Saigon. Specialist 5 Welter’s accolades include; Silver Star, Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal, The Air Medal, The Combat Medical Badge, and 2 unit Citations earned by the Battalion during their tour.
